„On the mourning card we have to write down the loss again” – family conflict over the inheritance after the death of Władysław Walewski from Miłonice

Family relationships connecting people creating a specific small social group called “family” for centuries have been the subject of reflection by philosophers, theologians and broadly understood social and political thinkers. Undeniably, the family is a certain reflection of the relationships in a specific society and vice versa, so it should not be surprising that among families – just like in societies – sometimes there are also animosities.
The aim of the article is primarily to discuss the breakdown of family relationships after the death of a person, who informally united several generations of the family. In addition to handwritten documents from the archive of Kazimierz Walewski from Tubądzin the sources include also press articles published in “Kurier Warszawski”.
