Co dzieje się z psychiką, relacjami i poczuciem własnej tożsamości kobiety, gdy wchodzi w okres menopauzalny? Dlaczego niektóre zmiany przebiegają łagodnie, a inne wywołują lęk, dezorientację czy spadek nastroju? I przede wszystkim – jak sprawić, by ten etap stał się czasem wzmocnienia, a nie kryzysu?
W publikacji pokazano, że menopauza to nie tylko uderzenia gorąca i wahania hormonów, lecz złożona transformacja obejmująca psychikę, ciało, relacje i społeczne role kobiet. Autorka wyjaśnia, na czym polega „mgła mózgowa”, skąd biorą się zmiany nastroju, jak przebiega proces adaptacji do nowych wyzwań życiowych i dlaczego doświadczenia kobiet są tak różnorodne. Bazując na rzetelnych badaniach oraz współczesnej wiedzy psychologicznej, pomaga zrozumieć czynniki ryzyka, ale też wskazuje skuteczne, udokumentowane metody wspierania dobrostanu – od interwencji psychologicznych po mądre decyzje dotyczące stylu życia i leczenia.
To przystępna, potrzebna i normalizująca perspektywa, która traktuje menopauzę jako naturalny etap życia oraz okazję do refleksji nad własnymi potrzebami. Autorka pokazuje, w jaki sposób wiedza, świadome podejście, odpowiednie wsparcie mogą zmienić sposób przeżywania tego okresu – zarówno przez kobiety, jak i ich bliskich.
Marie Percival jest akademiczką, autorką, klinicystką i badaczką. Ma ponad osiemnastoletnie doświadczenie dydaktyczne zdobyte w szkolnictwie wyższym w Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii, gdzie prowadziła zajęcia z zakresu psychologii i terapii psychologicznych. Posiada także doświadczenie praktyczne wynikające z prowadzenia licznych sesji terapeutycznych.
