Monografia składa się ze wstępu, sześciu rozdziałów o charakterze problemowo-chronologicznym podzielonych na podrozdziały oraz bibliografii. Pierwszy rozdział poświęcony został omówieniu transformacji politycznych w Irlandii. Została w nim przedstawiona geneza powstania irlandzkich struktur rządowych alternatywnych dla administracji brytyjskiej oraz narodziny irlandzkiej dyplomacji w XX wieku. W rozdziale drugim zatytułowanym Kontekst międzynarodowy, imperialny i wewnątrzpolityczny negocjacji brytyjsko-irlandzkich przedstawiona została perspektywa Imperium Brytyjskiego, dla którego kwestia irlandzka była tylko jednym z wielu palących problemów po zakończeniu Wielkiej Wojny. Rozdział trzeci, zatytułowany Negocjacje został poświęcony na omówienie najważniejszych etapów procesu pokojowego. Przedstawiono w nim drogę do zawieszenia broni, sylwetki negocjatorów i innych polityków odpowiedzialnych za przebieg rozmów po stronie brytyjskiej i irlandzkiej, a także ewolucję taktyk obu delegacji, punkty sporne i metody dochodzenia do porozumienia. W rozdziale czwartym natomiast analizowana jest treść osiągniętego porozumienia i omawiane są poszczególne artykuły, pod kątem ich konsekwencji politycznych, finansowych oraz wojskowych. Rozdział piąty zawiera szczegółowe omówienie procesu ratyfikacji traktatu w Izbie Gmin oraz Dáil Éireann. Ostatni rozdział został natomiast poświęcony badaniom nad społecznym odbiorem porozumienia.
Dr Antonina Pawłowska — adiunkt w Katedrze Historii Powszechnej Najnowszej na wydziale Filozoficzno-Historycznym Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Członkini Polskiego Towarzystwa Badań Irlandystycznych. W swoich badaniach podejmuje kwestie stosunków brytyjsko-irlandzkich w pierwszych dekadach XX wieku, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem okresu wojny o niepodległość Irlandii i procesu zdobywania przez Irlandczyków niezależności od Imperium Brytyjskiego. Autorka licznych artykułów, w których analizuje problematykę szeroko pojętego życia społecznego i politycznego Irlandii w tym okresie.
